SESSION 1

Artificial Intelligence in ELT: creating the lessons of tomorrow

What do we as Educators know about how to effectively use AI-powered capabilities (for example ChatGPT, Bing, and You) to create engaging and interesting lesson plansand learning cycles for our learners? How can we prompt AI-powered capabilities to do what we need it to do for us?

This interactive talk is geared and designed for Contemporary Teachers who are interested – and willing – to learn about how to use artificial intelligence to create the language lessons of tomorrow. The talk will cover aspects of Artificial Intelligence, Instructional Design, Backward Design, Online Pedagogy and will bring you to where we are today and where we are going tomorrow.

SESSION 2

Key AI tools that can really impact on our teaching and learning

There is a lot of hype around AI and many tools turn out to be quite disappointing. However among the many tools that have been released, there are some real gems that can really help both teachers and students.

We have been testing and using a whole range of these tools and in this talk, I will focus on the AI tools that could really impact on your teaching and learning. Tools that cover writing, pronunciation, reading and even speaking. Amongst the hype there really are some fantastic tools. A practical talk full of ideas that you can introduce into your classroom.

SESSION 3

How to intelligently use AI to adapt and supplement your coursebook material

In this hands-on session I’ll be showing practical ways of how we can adapt coursebook tasks using AI tools to create a completely different learning experience. I’ll share a number of instantly usable exercises that AI creates for us in a split of a second with a view to introducing variety to a coursebook-led course. I’ll be looking at how to ask AI questions and how to create commands so that we get AI to produce linguistically valuable materials.
